May 29th kicks off the summer in Nauvoo. We did not work in the temple yesterday, (which I am sort of glad on our morning shift there were 9 sealings/OEs. We worked in the temple information center instead. This is an assignment given 1 day a month instead of your regular temple shift. It was a fun place to be, we had around 40 visitors and Tom even gave away a Book of Mormon. The information center is just a place to come watch movies, get information and ask questions, with the feature movie being Nauvoo, A Temple Reborn. It's 14 mins. and a must see if you are ever in Nauvoo. All of our visitors were LDS except one couple that came and watched that movie.
Tom was able to answer questions and offer them a Book of Mormon and the wife said she would read it. Really a cool experience, it is the closest we will get to proselyting while here.
That night we attended the kick off production Sunset on the Mississippi, a sort of old fashion variety show. After that show we stayed for the late night (8:30 pm) performance of The Hughes Brothers from Branson Missouri. It was a little countryish but still pretty good entertainment. I wish I would have had my camera because it was an outdoor stage and there were literally thousands of bugs swarming the big lights used to light up the performers. At one point one of the singers sort of choked and then said sorry I just swallowed a bug. GROSS!!
So last night sets the tone for the next couple of months. There is something going every night except Monday and every day even Sunday.
